Tuck is built to keep your things private. The short version: what you tuck stays on your device.
What Tuck stores
Everything you add, including item names, places, notes, photos, and your trips and moves, is saved on your own device. In the iPhone app it lives in the app’s storage. In the web app it lives in your browser’s storage. We don’t have an account system, and we don’t receive a copy.
Joining the private beta
If you request an invite on this website, we keep the name, email address and answers you give us so we can invite you to the beta and contact you about it. The form is processed and stored by our host, Netlify. We don’t share it or use it for anything else. Email us to have it deleted.
Anonymous usage counts
During the beta, the Tuck web app counts what kind of things people do, so we can see what’s working. For example: “opened the app”, “added a tuck with a photo”, “started a trip”, “a search found something”, “finished the intro”. Each device gets a random ID so we can tell how many people come back, and the time from first opening Tuck to the first tuck is recorded. That’s all.
- We never send what you tuck: no item names, places, notes, photos or search words.
- The counts go to our host, Netlify, in storage only we can read. No analytics company is involved.
- Turn it off any time in your profile, under Privacy, with Share anonymous usage. Turning it off also removes what your device already shared from our counts.
This website counts visits the same way: which page was viewed, the website you came from (just its domain), which “Join the beta” button was tapped, and that an invite was requested. Your browser keeps a random ID so a visit isn’t counted twice in a day. We don’t record what you type into the invite form in these counts.
Camera and photos
Tuck asks for camera access so you can photograph where you put things, and for photo library access if you choose a photo you already have. Photos are saved with the tuck they belong to, on your device. Tuck doesn’t upload them anywhere.
What we don’t do
- We don’t run advertising, and we don’t use trackers or analytics companies.
- We don’t sell or share your data.
- We don’t read your tucks, notes or photos.
The web app
The web version loads fonts from Google Fonts and a small QR-code library from a public content network, so those services can see your IP address as part of delivering the files. Our host, Netlify, keeps standard server logs. None of your tucks are sent to any of them.
Backups and exports
When you back up your tucks or export a PDF inventory, the file is created on your device and goes where you choose to save or share it. That’s your copy to look after.
Deleting your data
Delete a tuck, a bag, a box or a whole trip inside the app. Deleting the app, removing Tuck from your home screen, or clearing site data for the web app removes everything Tuck has stored. Because we hold no copy, we can’t recover it, so back up first if you might want it later.
Children
Tuck isn’t directed at children under 13 and doesn’t knowingly collect information from anyone.
Changes
If we add things like accounts or sync, we’ll update this page and tell you in the app before anything changes.
